With the change of weather, I have had a lot of questions on shoes. What are the rules around shoes? Last month we had an article on shoe repairs and how you save money on your shoes, but when do you wear what???

The rules used to be at the end of Easter you do not wear open toe shoes until spring when the racing season is in full swing. This is now not the case. The rules have softened!!

Last week, due to weather conditions in Melbourne, open toe shoes were a must as it was extremely warm. This week the weather has become cold so the boots are back out for another season. Before pulling your boots out of the wardrobe, it is important to do an audit on them.

Are they:
Polished
Up to date
In need of any repairs
Stylish???

Over the knee boots are huge this season and you can also purchase some wonderful stylish boots that sit under the knee. I sent out an email on where to purchase boots for larger calves, now we have the problem of where to purchase boots for smaller calves and ankles. Problem now solved. Joanne Merser has some fabulous boots to suit and I was extremely lucky to purchase a pair last weekend and received a second pair for half price.

Ankle boots are also a must for this season and look great with skirts and dresses over the knee with a great pair of tights, black, colourful or with a pattern. I recommend “Leona Edmiston” Luxury Opaque tights or “Levante” Aurora Tights. Both beautiful to wear and feel like silk.

Remember, to be stylish you can never go passed high heels but comfort is always more important. If you can’t walk in the shoes, go for something else. Nothing looks worse than attending a wedding and seeing women trying to walk in heels and taking them off as soon as they reach the reception!! Comfort is important.

Shoes are beautiful and shoes are a huge part of your outfit to look stylish. Don’t spoil your outfit by putting on your old, unclean pair of shoes.
