Quench Your Skins Thirst This Winter

Winter is the time when my skin goes all dry, flaky and goes to rubbish.  Is it dry or does it need it’s thirst quenched?

Most people think that we need to hydrate our skin more in the warmer months, but in actual fact we suffer more due to the elements in the cooler months.

The best thing to do for your skin if it is dry, flaky and needs a drink is to:

  • Switch to moisturiser that is stronger and especially designed to nourish dry skin.  Rosehip oil is also great for dry skin and is an inexpensive way to nourish your skin.
  • Try switching to an oily cleanser and use a hydrating facial serum, such as vitamin c under your moisturiser to give your skin a great boost.
  • Drink a great deal of water, even boiled water and herbal teas instead of coffee.  A great tip is to add lemon juice so your body can actually absorb the water.
  • Are you a bum warmer like me who loves to stand in front of the fire?  Standing for long periods of time in front of a heater can dry out your skin.
  • Exfoliate your face and whole body often to remove the outer layers of dry skin and keep new and refreshed skin shining through.
